Counterfeit USDT

counterfeit-usdt

Counterfeit USDT is a Leeri screening rule for TRON that detects the following: Tokens that present themselves as USDT but are not issued by Tether's real contract.

What it detects

Tokens that present themselves as USDT but are not issued by Tether's real contract.

When it fires

A TRC-20 transfer's on-chain symbol reads "USDT" while its contract address does not match Tether's official USDT contract.

What it means

Counterfeit USDT displays as USDT in most wallets but is worthless. An address can receive it without asking for it, so its presence in the history reflects what was sent to the address rather than what its owner did, and it is a warning for the address owner.

What to do

Do not count counterfeit amounts as real USDT balance or volume; the counterfeit contracts are listed with the finding.
